BIOGRAPHY
ABOVE: Dominique Breckenridge
Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Dominique Breckenridge was born with two things already on her side for the destined career she’d one day pursue. That was an artist for a mother, and a building contractor for a father. But not only did they bring that to the table, but the inspiration of one of the most loved era’s in Dominique’s life, the 30’s, 40's, and 50’s.
Growing up in Plano, Texas, she always had the funny feeling that she was somewhat out of place. The love that she has for the nostalgic era, classic movies, and vintage flair was no doubt unmistakable. Putting all these ingredients into one child not only makes a spirited contender, but a passionate one.
Given the natural ability to create and envision; Dominique’s talents are unique. Driving her to contend with the heavy hitters of today’s new and authentic fashion and film industry. Truly blessed with something that she can only conclude came through with the grace and spirit of God. Leading her to acknowledge that this would be something that she was in preparation for practically her whole life.
Since she could remember, Dominique’s dream was to become an actress, stepping into the league and legacy of those like Greta Garbo and Dorothy Dandridge. To bring back the sense of old Hollywood that now seems so left behind and lost. In search of that journey Dominique began to sketch out clothes that she would one day ware to an award show or an event in the future. However that journey did become more and more of a dream, evolving into nights of visions and illusions.
Designs of gowns and dresses began to talk to the designer, so to speak, invading her dreams to the extent to her having to wake up in the middle of the night reaching for a pencil and paper so that she would dare forget the moment. Along with these "walking" garments formed instant ideals. For her, joining a set with a style; which lead to a scene, which lead to an act, which lead to a production. Between time of working in your usual department stores, going on modeling auditions and casting calls, to running for Miss Dallas USA, Dominique knew there was more to life that she was meant to do.
The love and release that she gets from the movies, books, drawing, acting, and screenwriting, brings happiness to ones life when the world seems to be unstable and confused; if she could bring that kind of happiness to others from her experiences, she would have done what she felt like she was meant to do in life. With life ahead of her, Dominique Breckenridge has not even began to show the world what she can do. With pencil and paper now always at hand, the world is in for what has to be the biggest best-kept secret.
